hey nancy,

you said you were looking for new ways to pair short skirts with sweaters & long sleeve tops.

one of the easiest ways is to throw on some over-the-knee boots on with short skirts.  they go well with any kind of top.

this is the same outfit with a jacket over it.  it adds a bit of edge & polish, but remains quite simple.  you can do the same thing with flat boots or knee boots, but i thought these pictures were quite inspiring.

because you have great legs like her, i think you can afford to wear the oversized silhouette below.  she pairs an oversized, graphic sweater with a fuller skirt & high boots.  you won’t look bulky because your skinny legs will be peeking out below.  any heels will help you from feeling wider than you are long.

here, taylor wears an even bigger sweater with an even more abbreviated skirt.  i just wanted to encourage you to play with the proportions a bit.

but if that looks a little overwhelming to you, this look might be a more fun & understandable look for you.  i know you love the high-low skirt thing & this is a great simple way to pair an asymmetrical skirt with a thin sweater.  the sweater doesn’t have to be tight, but it’s fitted enough so you don’t feel sloppy.

you mentioned you like to wear skirts with tights.  since you already mastered tights, i thought short socks might be fun for you to play with.  you can pair short socks with booties, flats or even your madewell sandals.  just make sure they are thin so you don’t feel like you are wearing sweat socks.  you can use ankle length socks or…

…scrunch down little longer socks for a casual look…

one of my favorite ways to wear short skirts is with over-the-knee socks.  make sure your skirt isn't too full in volume or your outfit might end up looking a bit juvenile.  keep it simple with a fitted skirt.  be sure to leave just the right amount of distance between the bottom of your hem & the top edge of your sock so it's not too revealing, but reveals just the right amount.

anyway, have fun with it.  it's easy to throw on jeans all winter, but skirts definitely break it up a bit so you aren't so bored with your winter wardrobe.

okay, talk to you later!
