fur sure

hey nancy,

i was thinking we haven’t covered the topic of fur, which is really hot right now.

i know it’s not super cold over there so i figured faux would be the way to go.  also, it’s SO much more budget friendly!

i thought this embellished fur jacket by free people would be perfect for you.  it’s slightly blue & so easy to wear.  It’s not fussy & you can pair it with skinny jeans & anything else.  just make sure to keep the bottom half skinny so you aren’t too fluffy all around!

as you know, i love animal print so this ladylike faux fur jacket by tinley road is a very cute & very affordable option.  it’s kind of more graphic & modern in the black & white, which i love.  i also feel like it might be easier to match.

if you prefer a more traditional animal print, this exclusive faux fur jacket by tulle is also a great option.  i know i said the black & white would be easier to match, but you can just treat leopard as a neutral, like olive green or even denim.  it also comes in black or a blonde color if you prefer something more classic.  whatever color you choose, the shape is classic & will work with your wardrobe for many seasons to come.

for a pop of (subtle) color, I thought this tina faux fur jacket by ella moss in burgundy is gorgeous.  the burgundy is very sophisticated, but is also unexpected.

this michael michael kors faux coyote fur jacket in charcoal is so versatile in black.  i have to admit that while i love the colorful options, as well as the natural browns, i got a black one for my first one =).

for a more refined look, this faux chinchilla jacket by 525 america is cute, but not too wild.  this is understated, but quite chic.

if a vest is more your thing, this mongolian fur vest by sabine is cute & animal-friendly (it says no animals were harmed in creating it).  you can wear it with a t-shirt for a more laidback look or wear it with long sleeves for a more rachel zoe-esque look.  this vest would look good with skinnies or flairs so you can’t go wrong!

if less fur is what you prefer, this aviator shearling jacket by hive & honey is also cute.  the pale grey is pretty & will transition you into spring when you pair it with florals & patterns.

i know fur might not be your thing, but i think it'll be a fun addition to your closet.  you can dress it down with jeans or pair it with a dress for a date night.

oh well, talk to you later!

ruby slippers

hey nancy,

i heard you were looking for some red shoes!  it's so hard to find the right red shoe, right?  designers always seem to want to make red shoes too cute or too sexy.  not to mention finding the right red color...

what do you think about these mona patent pumps from j.crew?  they aren't too pointy or too round so i think they will remain a classic in your closet.  the color isn't too bright so it's a really sophisticated.

i'm not sure if these are too cute, but the mona mary jane at j.crew is such a pretty shade of red.  urban outfitters sells the kimchi blue suede double buckle shoe, which is similar, but at a better price if you are interested.

what do you think about these steve madden basque heels?  it's a classic shape & a lovely color.  AND on sale!

if you are looking something with a lower heel, these kimchi blue suede pointy heel are great & you can't beat the price.

alright, i know you said red, but i loved these casablanca blue drea patent peep-toe pumps are such a pretty color that i HAD to show you!

okay, talk to you later!

p.s. - mom has a great pair of vintage red shoes that I tried to wear, but my feet were too big.  see if they are still in the garage.  ;)

madewell dress

hey nancy,

you were saying you liked the dresses won by lily (played by alyson hannigan) on "how i met your mother".

i saw some dresses on the madewell.com sale section that i thought might interest you.

this isn't that colorful, but i thought the madewell novelist shirtdress looked cute & comfortable.  it's hot over in cali so you can just wear it with your ankle boots, but when it gets cold, you can pair them with tights.  it would be adorable if you topped off your look with a cute beanie hat or added a colorful belt that comes with the dress.

i actually tried on this madewell dusklight velvet dress & it was actually cheaper at the store AND 30% off.  so if you like it, check it out.  i thought it was a cute dress for seeing family.  i wanted to wear it with my doc martens to toughen up the look a little, but it would be so chic with heels in any color!

i thought the madewell darling dots dress was SO lily.  it would be cute with grey socks & those shoes i got you.

red dresses are REALLY popular for spring so i thought i would get you a head start with the alexa chung for madewell carine dress.  but i think you should try this one on because this neckline can be a little tricky.  however, if it looks good, i think it's a dress you can keep forever & wear for any occasion.

for all the madewell stuff, i recommend you check the stores because they have a more urgent need to get rid of what's on the floor to make room for new stuff.  i find that their prices are lower.  or just bring your smartphone to the store & compare prices =).

talk to you later!
